Which is more reliable? The Internet or Mainstream Media

According to Tucker (2008), the alternative to mainstream media, which is the Internet, is untrustworthy because of the lack of gatekeepers. Individuals are at liberty to post false information or inaccurate snapshots of incidents on the web. Ironically, the continual distrust of our supposedly unreliable mainstream media has given us a new media that is by its very definition, unreliable. Any thoughts? Examples?

In my opinion, all the media outlets have the potential to be unreliable. You can't rely on the Internet or mainstream media for accuracy. But then what can we do? We need to keep up with what's going on around us.

I think the younger generations prefer reading their news from the Internet. Personally, I enjoy listening to and reading from the mainstream media. I enjoy the personability of the mainstream media.
I am thinking that, in order for the mainstream media to be competitive, they will have to incorporate the Internet into news delivery. Media outlets like CNN, Fox, MSNBC, National newspapers, local reports and several others are combining the traditional news delivery method with online news. This goes to show the changing trends of our mainstream media.

Internet is much more a doubtful source of information but it's also independent as usual.
    That is the main advantage.
